The Challenge
After the development of the Silent Brick Pro system, FAST LTA saw the opportunity to expand its product portfolio with a new generation of high-performance devices.
Silent Brick Max Air is a compact electronic air-gap backup solution. Silent AI Pro marks a strategic step into a new category: on-premise AI computing.
As businesses explore AI solutions that keep data and computing infrastructure under their own control, local AI servers are becoming an important alternative to cloud-dependent approaches. This shift brings FAST LTA into a new technological landscape - one where data sovereignty, local infrastructure, and open-weight AI models create new opportunities.
The challenge was to translate this evolution into a product design that communicates both the reliability of FAST LTA's established storage expertise and the forward-looking character of its new AI computing hardware.
The Solution
FLUID developed a cohesive design language that connects FAST LTA's established product portfolio with its next generation of technology - from the signature blue cube to distinctive surfacing and venting patterns.
For Silent AI Pro, the design also establishes a distinct physical identity for a new category of on-premise AI hardware. Beyond conventional storage appliances, the device communicates computing power, intelligence, and technological progress while retaining the precision and reliability associated with the FAST LTA brand.
Integrated lighting adds a new dimension of personalization and identity, transforming functional hardware into a recognizable expression of FAST LTA's evolving technological vision.
Design as a Business Lever
In high-performance technology, design directly shapes perceived quality, trust, and competitive positioning. In complex B2B purchasing decisions involving IT specialists, procurement teams, and executive leadership, the physical product experience becomes part of the commercial argument.
With Silent AI Pro, FAST LTA enters the growing field of on-premise AI computing - enabling businesses to explore AI workloads within their own infrastructure. Combined with open-weight models, local deployment can support greater control over data, infrastructure, and AI operations, offering an alternative to exclusive dependence on hyperscale cloud providers.
The design translates this technological proposition into a tangible product identity. It communicates that FAST LTA's expertise extends beyond reliable, energy-efficient data storage into a new generation of intelligent, locally deployed computing solutions.
Here, industrial design becomes more than a visual differentiator. It helps make a new technological offering understandable, credible, and recognizable — reinforcing the value of independent infrastructure and technological sovereignty.
The Signature Vents
The venting pattern and the vertical grill became signature elements of the FAST LTA device product line. The devices rely on optimal air flow for cooling.
Designing for Scalability
The design framework will evolve from the current line-up to the next generation devices. The long term partnership between FAST LTA and FLUID plans for evolving consistency.
Working with FLUID was an exceptionally professional and focused experience. Throughout the project, we received several outstanding design concepts and were always able to select the one that best fit our vision.
